There is power in communication. Intellectual power through education, emotional power to empathize with others, physical power that you can harness through being active and spiritual power you can tap into to access the knowledge of the universe through prayer, meditation, music – whatever is meaningful to and works for you. — Ragni Trotta

She is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she earned an MSc in Media, Communication and Development. With a love for communication, she is fluent in English Norwegian, Spanish and Italian, and speaks excellent Swedish and Danish, as well as good German and French.

Ragni began her media career working for CIA Medianetwork in London as a Business Development Executive. There, she spearheaded a number of prestigious projects, including the CIA Medianetwork’s 25th Anniversary Campaign with TIME Magazine and Ad Age. The project was so successful that it was a nominee for the “Best Corporate Advertising Campaign” at the M&M Global Advertising Awards in 2000. Following her time at CIA Medianetwork, Ragni returned to the hospitality industry where she first started working in marketing.

In addition to her marketing career, Ragni has been heavily involved in her late husband’s charitable organization Books4Kids Jamaica, a nonprofit that provides educational materials to Jamaican children aged 4 to 5. To date, she cites it as the most rewarding project she has ever undertaken, as the pure joy on the children’s faces when the books are delivered is one of the purest and most joyful experiences to witness.

Ragni Trotta is passionate about helping others. She believes that by just showing up, asking for what people need, and by listening and learning how to best be of assistance, everyone is capable of making a difference in the lives of others. One way that she strives to help is through advocating a healthy and active lifestyle. When we help ourselves by feeding our mental and physical health, we are more competent and capable of helping others.

Communication is the core of Ragni’s health and wellness philosophy. There is power in communication. Intellectual power through education, emotional power to empathize with others, physical power that you can harness through being active and spiritual power you can tap into to access the knowledge of the universe through prayer, meditation, music – whatever is meaningful to and works for you.

Ragni believes virtual and visual communication is an incredibly powerful tool—the future of communication. However, there is a real risk of the actual real, human connection getting lost in the ocean of communication. Loneliness and lack of meaningful human connections are the social wounds we face as a result of too much virtual communication. There is too much sharing and not enough listening. We can all learn to listen more, to listen better, and be present in our minds and hearts, as well as our physical beings. We are simply not spending enough real time socialising with real people.

In addition to mental health and wellbeing, Ragni has always loved nurturing her physical health. She began playing soccer at the age of eight, and since then has found enjoyment in physical activity, team sports and movement. A lover of music, she frequently enjoys dance classes of ballroom and latin dancing, enjoys weight training at the gym and has even completed a half marathon with the help of a personal trainer. Taking care of her health is important to Ragni, who has experienced her fair share of loss at the hands of diseases like cancer and ALS. As such, to her, health and wellness encompasses so much more than physical activity, it also means taking time for yourself to improve your mental health and your heart.
